For British holiday makers the housing quality of old style cottages comes natural and it is evident from experiences back home that none of the modern concrete built villas with their superficial “rustic” make-up can possibly match those remaining genuine traditional stone houses in Macedonian style on Thassos Island. Kazaviti still retains its architectural heritage largely intact, and it is our aim to open the best of these grand mansions and smaller family houses for residential rural tourism. The first two houses already restored and available are presented here.

Holiday house Villa Karavousi provides the entire space on its terrace of land at the upper periphery of Kazaviti village. There is no other house nearby at the same altitude; the neighbouring, equally traditional houses are located below. Tranquility up here - still in near walking distance from the village square - is superb…so is the panorama view towards west with sunsets in ever changing colours.
Further up on the slope the track leads to former gardens and vineyards on terraces, open oak and chestnut - woods and the wild gorges.
Only these ancient buildings are fully integrated into the natural landscape; it’s one of rural traditions’ most valued aspect that they were designed in gone-by times as actual part of the natural environment, at the best locations offering a balanced micro-climate as well. The solid walls of stone and clay keep room temperatures at pleasant levels. The lofty rooms extend to the large protected loggia and the veranda below.
Three garden terraces offer additional ample space for relaxing hours - absolutely undisturbed and surrounded by pure nature.
The family house Karavousi was the first one we purchased 25 years ago. It was carefully and with much attention restored over the years.
It still remains our favourite today. And we are confident that spending your holiday up here combines the best of rural taste with the options of beach life, at the near coast down below.
